What is a Spray Tan?
A spray tan is a method of tanning that uses a solution with the active ingredient DHA to darken the top layer of skin cells. It is the safest way to tan. It’s also the fastest way to get an instant tan because, at SUGARED + BRONZED, our bronzing layer acts as a guide to perfect the application, but it also means that after your 20 minutes (OMG, so fast, right?), you will leave looking tan right away! It’s an instant gratification process. Plus, as the solution stays on your skin, it becomes darker over the next 24 hours. What’s so great about our S+B tans? Well, they are all express developing formulas; there are no extra fees here. Our FlexExpress formula lets you do a rinse shower in just one hour (no soap just yet). After 8 hours, you can use soap to wash the make-up layer off. By the 24-hour mark, your tan will be fully developed. So don’t fret in the shower, when you see the bronze tan coming off, that’s just the make-up layer.
Ok, that makes sense, but what is DHA? Where does it come from? Dihydroxyacetone is an ingredient derived from sugar beets. All spray tans have this, it is the only active ingredient. Not all DHA is created equally; we use the highest quality DHA, and our solution is completely vegan. We customize our formula to include natural essential oils to keep skin from drying out during development. We’ve perfected the solution over the last 14 years, and it is the gold standard (well, I guess it's really the bronze standard). Our proprietary formula works within one hour, which is faster than most others. Also, the most important part: you’ll always get a natural glow. No fake tan looks. This is not your 90s tan.
